Dynamic British-Asian bass player Shez Raja will be performing on the Main Stage on Saturday 4 March with his spectacular group, the Shez Raja Collective. The Collective’s live show is a bass-led head charge of raw energy that always leaves audiences uplifted, inspired and asking for more! Following exciting performances at international jazz festivals from Russia to New Zealand they have amassed a devoted following and forged a reputation as one of the most entertaining live acts on the scene today.
Having travelled the Punjab region of the Indian sub-continent with his father in his formative years, Raja’s music is inspired by the musical culture of his South Asian roots. Expect a sonic kaleidoscope of Indo-jazz, thundering funk, tuneful ragas and euphoric bass grooves! Shez has released five highly-acclaimed albums. The latest, Gurutopia on US label Dot Time Records, features two global jazz legends – Mike Stern on guitar and Randy Brecker on trumpet.
